Vehicle Inspections
Digital pre-trip checklists with audit trail
With Vehicle Inspections,
The Driver can
complete digital pre-trip checks
so they can
catch unsafe conditions early
— resulting in 100% inspection compliance.
The Problem
The Core Problem
Paper inspection records are lost before they can be filed, making operators vulnerable in audits and blind to vehicle safety issues.
The Scenario
A state inspector requests pre-trip inspection records for all vehicles over the past 6 months.
Why It's Urgent
Regulations require daily inspections. The operator has paper forms in a filing cabinet, some complete, some missing, some illegible.
Without MediRoutes
The operator spends 3 days locating, scanning, and organizing paper forms. Several months have gaps. The inspection results in a compliance warning.
With MediRoutes
Vehicle Inspections are searchable in the MediRoutes dashboard. The operator pulls all 6 months of records for any vehicle in under 5 minutes. Every inspection is timestamped, GPS-verified, and complete.
Who This Helps
The Driver
currently fills out a paper checklist on a clipboard. Frustrated by a process that feels meaningless when nothing gets checked and nothing gets done when something fails.
The Fleet Owner
knows state regulations require pre-trip inspections but has no way to verify they were done correctly without physical paper that gets lost. One vehicle defect discovered after a patient incident creates serious liability.
How It Works
Each step shows what happens when things go right — and what MediRoutes does when they don't.

Common Questions
Create multiple inspection templates and assign them to specific vehicle classes. A WAV inspection can include ramp function checks that the standard van form does not have.
A failed item generates an alert to the fleet manager. Configure whether the driver is blocked from starting trips until the issue is cleared or simply warned.
Operational trip data is retained for 3 years by default. Retention policies are configurable per state regulation.
Driver Insights includes inspection compliance as a tracked metric, showing fail rates by driver and by inspection item.
GPS coordinates are captured but not validated against a required location by default. Configure a geofence check if inspections must occur at the garage.
Photo capture for failed items is on the product roadmap. Currently, drivers can add a text note to any failed item.
