Live Routing & Rerouting
Recover from failed trips instantly by broadcasting to the nearest available driver
With Live Routing & Rerouting,
The Dispatcher can
reassign failed trips in real-time
so they can
recover from delays and failures
— resulting in lower daily trip failure rate.
The Problem
The Core Problem
When a trip fails mid-day, manual reassignment is too slow to prevent cascading delays across multiple routes.
The Scenario
A driver has a vehicle breakdown mid-route with 6 remaining stops. The dispatcher needs to find available drivers nearby who can absorb those trips without making their own passengers late.
Why It's Urgent
Every minute a failed trip sits unassigned, a patient is waiting. Manual reassignment requires checking each driver schedule individually. During peak hours this can take 15 to 20 minutes per failed trip, cascading delays across multiple routes.
Without MediRoutes
Call available drivers one by one, check their schedules verbally, and negotiate who can take the trips. This is slow, error-prone, and disrupts the drivers who are called.
With MediRoutes
Live Rerouting broadcasts the failed trips to all available drivers within range. The system evaluates each driver schedule and vehicle type automatically, showing the dispatcher which reassignments work without conflicts.
Who This Helps
The Dispatcher
Handles live emergencies where trips must be reassigned immediately. Every minute of delay means a patient is waiting.
How It Works
Each step shows what happens when things go right — and what MediRoutes does when they don't.

Common Questions
Yes. If a driver with 6 remaining stops has a breakdown, all 6 trips can be rerouted simultaneously. The system may distribute them across multiple available drivers to minimize impact.
Live Rerouting checks each driver's current position, remaining schedule, vehicle type, credentials, and the time required to reach the failed trip's pickup location. Drivers who cannot reach the pickup within the appointment window are excluded.
Trip billing records transfer with the reroute. The trip record shows both the original and replacement driver with timestamps, ensuring clean billing and complete audit trail.
