Manifest

Definition
The daily schedule or log assigned to a specific driver or vehicle. It lists the sequence of trips, including patient names, addresses, pickup times, and special needs.

Overview

Why it Matters

The manifest is the "instruction manual" for the driver's day. It is also a legal document; a signed manifest proves the work was done.

How it Works

Dispatch generates the manifest the night before. Drivers view it electronically (app) or on paper. As trips are completed, the manifest is updated.

Code Comparison

Comparison: Manifest vs. Route Sheet

These are often synonymous. Manifest sounds more formal/regulatory (aviation/shipping origin). Route Sheet is casual.

Common Questions

  • Static Data: Printing paper manifests the night before and failing to communicate same-day cancellations, leading to wasted trips.
  • PHI Security: Losing a paper manifest (HIPAA violation).
  • Move to Electronic Manifests (Tablets). They update in real-time, remove HIPAA risks from loose paper, and timestamp actions automatically.
